Shenyang (Simplified Chinese: 沈阳; Traditional Chinese: 瀋陽; pinyin: Shěnyáng) is the capital of Liaoning province in China. It is a sub-provincial city with a population of 7.2 million.
History
In the 12th century, Shenyang was one of the three capitals of the empire of the Kin Tartars (Golden Horde).

Geography & Climate
Beijing is situated at the northern tip, of the roughly triangular North China Plain which opens to the south and east of the city. Mountains to the north, northwest and west shield the city and northern China's agricultural heartland from the encroaching desert steppes.
