Nightlife in Dalian
Tin Whistle Pub
14 Changjiang Road, Zhongshan District
For the Taxi: Behind Shangri-la Hotel
The Tin Whistle is a typical Irish bar, run by Matt Murray. Upon entering, you're surrounded by Irish paraphanalia, including a football map of Europe (with England conveniently missing). They play sports on the television when it's on, and organize other events throughout the year. Next time you're in Dalian, stop over to see Matt & tell them we sent you!
Alice Bar
Around the Corner of Shangri-la Hotel
Alice Bar is set on the 3rd floor of a building wholly run by "Alice". When you walk in, you'll notice two pecularities. One are the poles at either end of the bar. The 2nd are the stripped-down girls dancing on them. The Alice Bar does seem to find pretty decent talent for these poles for the most part, and is definitely worth the visit. Just watch the bathrooms.
Noah's Ark Bar
South side of Renmin Guangchang (People's Square)
Noah's has two sections; the first floor outside bar & the basement bar. Outside, you'll find a decent amount of seating & drinks for a reasonable price, an excellent place to go for that drink after work. Downstairs is the bar that holds the bands playing on any given night. Generally Chinese music, once in awhile for the right (foreign) crowd, they'll play some decent Western music.
JD's
South side of Renmin Guangchang (People's Square)
JD's is the club to go to for dance music & bar fights. If you're willing to take the risk, head over there on a weekend sometime for some rather good entertainment. However, be aware of your surroundings & your stuff.
